Informed Learning and the Pedagogy of Supervision

Seminar open to the public

Inbjudan till öppet LinCS-seminarium

This seminar will introduce two themes a) informed learning, and b) the pedagogy of supervision in technology disciplines and then discuss the potential inter-relation between them. The first part of the seminar will focus on informed learning. Informed learning is about 'using information to learn'. It is about adopting the dual lenses of 'information' and 'learning' when working with students in educational settings. When talking about informed learning I will explore the thinking behind the development of the idea, and some key aspects of the idea. In the second part of the seminar I will focus on the different ways in which technology research supervisors experience the pedagogy of supervision. I will discuss the nine pedagogies and the way in which they were developed through building conversations with supervisors. In the third part of the seminar I will focus on informed learning in the research context and explore insights that may be brought to that arena from our understanding of research supervision pedagogy.
