Research interests:

My research has largely been tied to a longitudinal project, Evaluation through Follow-up (UGU). This project has monitored a nationally representative sample of individuals born in 1948, 1953, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, and 1992. The follow-ups have started at the age of 10 to 13 and then continued throughout the individuals’ entire education. On the basis of these data, I have studied the relationships between giftedness and school achievement, shifts in intelligence from the 1960s to the 2000s, factors that affect choices and success in higher education, the importance of various forms of economic support for recruitment to universities and university colleges.

Teaching interests:

My teaching interest has primarily centred on sociology of education and statistical methods, as well as supervision of postgraduate students.

Keywords:

sociology of education, social background, educational measurement, evaluation.
