My research interest involves the connection between education and working life and issues surrounding the interplay between technology, organization, and humans in work processes, especially in complex control room environments. New technologies, especially information technology resources, are constantly being introduced in our workplaces, and the question is how this impacts various occupational categories and their professional knowledge and what new demands are placed on employees. The dissertation work deals with technology replacement in the processing industry and how employees are introduced to new technology in production, that is, modes of introduction. This work has also entailed a historical review of the process operation as an occupation. The empirical work is being carried out at a foundry in the construction industry.
