Research interests:

The issues I primarily work with involve sociocultural factors (including historical aspects and institutional frameworks) that are of relevance to the field of education in general and in particular from a special education point of view and perspective. Of special interest to me are also “group-based inequalities in scholastic achievement” and the learning and development of minority students in a globalized and post-colonial world. How people view phenomena like inclusion-exclusion, normality-deviation, etc. in the research field of special education is an area that is of great interest to me and can easily be tied into my own field of interest.

Teaching interests:

I teach and supervise regarding ethnicity and education, cognitive anthropology, and “educational ethnography.” I am interested in question touching on the field of research methods in special education. I am course director for Research Field 2 (FF2) in full-time and half-time variants in the special education programme, which is an advanced course in undergraduate teacher education.

Keywords:

ethnicity, special education, minority students, social/education, inclusion-exclusion, international education, intercultural-education/communication
